Most motorhomes have BORING floorplans. It seems to boil down whether you want to the living room seating or the kitchen up front. That’s about it. I guess there are just restrictions forced by the things that can’t be changed; driver and passenger seats up front aren’t going anywhere and bedrooms wouldn’t make sense being up front. Still, there’s a decided lack of imagination in most of the designs I’ve seen.
Notice the word “most” at the beginning that paragraph. I did run across an interesting design yesterday that really piqued my interest. I was looking through Texas RV dealerships and found a listing for a Monaco 40PLQ. Here’s a picture of the floorplan. Notice the little area behind the bed? That’s fantastic! I know that you pay for it up front, but for me that would be an easy, easy trade off to make. I would be working a normal 9-5 (well 6:30-4:00, really) from the RV and having a set aside place like that to set up a full fledged workstation would be great! Put up a nice curtain to separate it from the rest of the RV and it would be a perfect workplace.
The downside for this motorhome in particular is that Monaco doesn’t generally make the “highly recommended” list when talking to fulltimers unless you’re talking about their super high end models, which this Knight is not. That’s too bad. Even so, if I were ready to make the commitment right now, I’d probably be making the five hour trip to see this sucker just out of curiosity.
I think I’ll post this same message along with a question on the Escapees forums.
